Washington is the 13th most populous state of the 50 United States, according to the 2010 US Census. The resident population was counted as 6,724,540 (approx), an increase of 14.1% from the 2000 Census.
The first Washington Federal Census was actually taken in 1860 and it has been taken every 10 years since then. The 1890 Decennial Census data were burned by the 1921 warehouse fire, but records related to Union Veterans and Widows survived the fire. WA State Censuses were taken in the following years: 1856, 1857, 1858, 1860, 1871, 1874, 1877, 1878, 1879, 1880, 1881, 1883, 1885, 1887, 1889, 1891, 1892 and 1898 (all of these were incomplete)
